Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress, best known for the films Beta Saajan, Hum Aapke Hai Koun, and Beta Saajan. She began her career in the 80s before coming to prominence with her performance in the film Tezaab where she starred with veteran actor Anil Kapoor. In the following film, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared with her. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she was able to learn dance at an early age. She began acting when she was young and fought for several years because most of her initial film projects were unsuccessful. In the end, she was one of the top actresses from Indian films. Following her wedding ceremony, she took a short absence from acting until she returned. In recent years, Dixit had a major role to play in Gulaab Gang a movie about the struggles of women in India. Dixit was awarded the film eight Filmfare Awards out of the 15 she was up for nominations. Padma Shri - the fourth highest civilian honor in India - was given to Dixit. She is also recognized for her charity work.
